Lessons use images rendered in Blender and focus on what CG and comp artists need to agree on: cameras, lenses, colour and render passes.
Modelling, and lighting and rendering from scratch, are not taught here. If you already use Blender, see our add-ons on the Tools page.
Learn in this order
- 01IntegrationMake CG sit in the plate: blacks by depth, haze, light wrap, grain, QC, AOV rebuilds
- 02CG Multipass & RelightingLight groups, Cryptomatte, P and N passes, depth defocus, motion vectors, shadow/AO and holdouts on our CG robot
- 03Camera & Lens LabSensors and lenses: FOV, perspective, DOF/bokeh (with real Blender renders), distortion, motion blur
- 04Camera Lab 3DDrive a camera in a 3D set: shot sizes, angles, lens vs distance, the frustum, exposure, camera moves, the 180° rule
- 052.5D & ProjectionSplit a plate into depth cards, project it onto geometry, nodal pan vs translation, parallax and the gaps you must paint
- 06Color Systems in 3DThe RGB cube, 3D gamuts, ACES/OCIO, white point and HDR vs SDR
- 07Lens Artifacts (Advanced)Flare ghosts, anamorphic, halation, glow vs diffusion, rolling shutter, overscan and the lens stack order

Common questions
Do I need to know Blender?
No. The lesson images are already rendered, and you adjust them in your browser.
Do I need to install anything?
Lab lessons run in your browser with nothing to install. Every picture is computed on your own machine.
